Investment Criteria

At Playford Capital we invest in start-up and early-stage companies ranging from pre-revenue through to sales of around $5m with high growth potential in the following sectors:

  • Information Technology
  • Medical Devices
  • Clean Technology

Our typical investment is up to $1.2M paid in stages.  In each case the amount invested will depend on the company’s capital requirements, risk profile and access to other funds.  We take a minority equity stake in companies.  The actual percentage depends on the amount of capital invested and the agreed company valuation.

Investments are selected on a competitive basis after extensive due diligence.  Key factors that we look for in an opportunity include:

  • Skilled management team
  • Clearly defined and substantial market opportunities
  • Strong intellectual property position and/or high barriers to entry
